Creation history and composition

The band was formed in Finland in 2013, but the history of its creation dates back to the times when the participants studied at a music school in their hometown of Oulu.

Vocalist Yoel Hocka and guitarist Joonas Porko were rivals for a long time and performed in different groups, but decided to unite for common goals. They were soon joined by bassist Olli Matela and drummer Tommy Lally. The last to join the musicians was the rapper Niko Moilanen, whom they met during a school party. He also suggested the name Blind Channel.

Blind Channel is a post - hardcore band from Oulu, Finland. The band defines their musical style as "violent pop"

Since its inception, Blind Channel has striven to create its own unique sound and style. This helped them stand out from many other groups and win the love of listeners not only in their homeland, but also in the world.

Music

The first rehearsals of the group took place in the garage, but even then they believed that a great future awaited them. The presentiment was not deceived, and soon after the formation of the group, the artists became the headliners of the concert at the 45 Special club. Initially, this role was prepared by Defrage, but on that day their bassist went overboard with alcohol and ended up behind bars.

A few months later, the musicians presented their debut maxi-single Antipode, which included tracks from Naysayers and Calling Out. But they were able to declare themselves on the international stage thanks to their participation in the Wacken Metal competition, the finalists of which had the opportunity to perform at the Wacken Open Air heavy music festival in Germany.

In the future, Blind Channel continued to delight the audience with appearances on major music venues in their native Finland. And already in 2015, after winning a competition organized by the YleX radio station, they went to Belgium. That year was marked for the artists and other significant events - the release of the mini-album Foreshadows and the signing of a contract with the label Ranka Kustannus.

The members soon announced the upcoming release of their first full-length album. Revolutions was released in October 2016 and received a lot of positive reviews from music critics. After that, Blind Channel took part in concerts of such groups as  Amaranthe  and Royal Republic.

In parallel with the performances, the performers were recording their second album - Blood Brothers. His track listing included popular songs like A Brother, Wolfpack and Sharks Love Blood. The release gave rise to a new page in the band's biography, changes were felt not only in sound, but also in style. Artists began to give preference to white and red colors.

When the tour in support of the record came to an end, Blind Channel returned to the recording studio. They presented the composition Timebomb, created in collaboration with Alex Mattson (Kaunisvesi). After several joint performances and projects, he decided to officially join the team as the 6th member in the lineup.

The third album was added to the band's discography in 2020 and was named Violent Pop. With its release, the transition from the white and red color scheme of Blood Brothers to darker black and silver took place. In addition to the previously released singles Snake, Died Enough For You and Gun, the track listing includes several new songs, including One Of Us and Lanterns.

In honor of the release of the record, the artists wanted to conduct a large-scale tour and even thought about a trip to Russia, but the plans were not destined to come true due to the coronavirus pandemic. Being in quarantine, the performers delighted their fans with the release of a cover of the song Left Outside Alone of the singer  Anastacia . They later also released a music video filmed at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki.

Blind Channel now

In January 2021, the musicians announced their participation in the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu competition, a victory in which gives the opportunity to represent Finland at Eurovision. For selection, they chose the song Dark Side, which quickly won the love of the public. Even before the concert performance, Blind Channel were named the favorites of the competition.

In February, the final took place, according to its results, the members of the rock group took 1st place. Part of their performance was showing the middle fingers, which the artists explained by their desire to express their disappointment with the situation in the world. Dark Side was written during the coronavirus pandemic, which became an ordeal for the stars.
